Cloud workers: inventory, profiles and provisioning
Purpose and prerequisites
Cloud workers manages execution infrastructure through four tabs: Workers, Provisioning history, Connections and Profiles. A worker record, a cloud VM and an enrolled execution agent are related but distinct states. Confirm the intended tenant, authorized cloud account, management permission and available capacity before provisioning infrastructure.
An approved cloud connection must be available, and its provider permissions and region policy must be satisfied. A worker profile defines requested capacity. Where the interface reports unsupported or unavailable capabilities, resolve that condition before proceeding. The optional price preview is an estimate, not a guaranteed bill.
Prepare a cloud connection
- Open Connections and select New connection.
- Enter Name, Provider, Account / project ID and Default region.
- Complete provider-specific identity and networking fields using the approved cloud configuration. Use federation or temporary impersonation; this form does not accept cloud passwords, access keys or private keys.
- Select the allowed Authorized regions and confirm that the default region is included.
- Choose Save connection. Follow the displayed verification instructions, using Copy steps if needed, then select Verify or Re-verify.
- Use Capacity to inspect the connection's current capacity and worker headroom. Read unavailable or unknown values as conditions requiring investigation.
Prepare a worker profile
- Open Profiles and select New profile.
- Enter Name, Provider, vCPU, Memory (GB) and Disk (GB).
- Choose SKU compatibility. Exact resources requires a matching provider size; Allow next larger SKU permits the supported larger-size selection.
- Review Status and optional pricing information, then select Save profile.
- Reopen the profile to verify its saved requirements before using it in provisioning.
Provision and verify a worker
- Open Workers and choose Provision worker.
- Confirm Tenant and Worker access. Review the distinction between Private to this tenant and Public shared before continuing.
- Select Cloud connection, Worker profile and Maximum concurrent slots.
- Set Worker name, Region and Zone when the provider requires them. Resolve placement errors with the supported refresh control.
- Use Continue and Back to inspect each step and the final review. Request Get optional quote if a price preview is useful.
- Select Create worker once, then inspect Provisioning history and the inventory until infrastructure and agent state are verified.
Operations and recovery
The worker row menu can expose Edit configuration, Enable worker scheduling, Drain worker, Disable worker scheduling, Start VM or Stop VM according to state and permission. Scheduling and VM power are separate controls. Read any disabled-action explanation before making a related change.
If creation times out, inspect the existing operation before submitting another request. If a worker is online but unavailable for a job, check tenant eligibility, required capabilities and slot capacity. Validate a synthetic execution and its Monitor result before claiming the worker is operational for the intended workload.
